Contender Finish has become the water-based finish by which
all other gym finishes are measured. Contender's unique, epoxy-based
formula offers significant advantages over the conventional
water-based urethane finishes, including ease-of-application,
higher gloss and unsurpassed durability. Contender delivers
performance equal to the best solvent based coating finished
on the market...including our own. Contender Finish provides
the toughness, abrasion resistance, and durability necessary
to stand up to the heaviest of traffic and tournament play.
Formulated with air quality in mind, water-based Contender
Finish met the strict air pollution requirements set forth
by the California Air Resources Board. VOC (Volatile Organic
Compounds) value for Contender Finish is less than 350 grams
per liter. Like all quality Hillyard gymnasium finishes, Contender
Finish is classified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.®
as to slip resistance, 186S. It is also approved by the Maple
Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA).
Contender Finish is compatible over a wide variety of conventional
solvent based epoxies and oil-modified urethanes, provided
these coatings are cured and bonded and the floor is properly
prepared. If all your gym needs is a fresh coat of finish,
with Contender you can scrub and recoat in the same day.
Applying Contender Finish is quick and simple. You can apply
Contender Finish with the Hillyard Power-Flo® , or light
weight T-bar applicator. There is a complete selection of
Contender Line Paints available for marking game lines, borders
and court markings. Clean up is easy…all you need is
warm water. Contender Finish is available in 1 and 5 gallon
